About

This website will document some of the climbing venues, popular and esoteric, in Chew Valley, via a browseable web guide and pdfs (hosted on an external site). The content will be split between bouldering and lead climbing.

As with any publication documenting climbing, a debt of gratitude is owed to all previous guidebook writers and publishers without which this site would not be possible. Special thanks are due to Paul Evans for the banner image, craig_h (UKC) for sundry photos and Phil at Braithwaites for beta. The site has been developed from first hand visits to crags, previous guidebooks and websites including Moorland Gritstone, BMC Guidebooks; Kevin Thaw's ktml.freeservers.com; rockfax.com

It goes without saying that traditional British grades will be used for leading. Font grades will be used for the bouldering. Where a problem is easier than English 5a a grade of 'easy' will appear in the text.

Lastly, climbing, and yes even bouldering is a risky business. Thus this is a disclaimer, the information on this site is a guide only and should only be used with sound judgement on the ground. We are all responsible for assessing and managing our own risk at the crags and boulders.
